Givaudan’s market leadership is translated into its concern for customers and consumers. To keep this position, Givaudan offers differentiated information, agility and technology. Customer service is customized, exclusive and in person, thus providing trust and safety.
The Company has experienced a considerable growth in fine perfumery and intends to strengthen its position as the number one company in image and customer services.
To accomplish this, it counts on a team of perfumers who constantly seek new technologies to develop unique fragrances. Recently a chemical scientist, with a PhD degree in natural products, was hired in order to reinforce Givaudan’s capabilities in this field.
The fragrance division invests in its perfumers exchange with the objective of extending their knowledge and specialization.
The creation, evaluation, marketing and market research areas are responsible for the development of fragrances that are tested directly with the consumer regarding acceptance and adequacy to the products they are going to scent.
This survey is carried out on a daily basis by field interviewers all over Brazil and with all social strata. One of their objectives is to meet consumers’ desires regarding pleasantness of the scents they will find in the products in the market.
One of Givaudan’s objectives for 2009 is to include consumers trend to buy sustainable products into its market researches.
Sustainability is also inserted in the conception and distribution of freebies to customers, reinforcing their engagement with the Company’s global objectives in this area.
The current financial crisis is a factor to be taken into consideration but there are many opportunities in the field of cosmetics and perfumes. The Brazilian Association of Perfumes, Cosmetics and Hygiene Products Manufacturers (ABIPECH) foresees a 10% market growth as a result of catalogue selling as an alternative source of income.

Investments in technology and in people in 2008 ensured a better performance than in the year 2007.
