In the face of the magnitude of the social needs, when making the decision about the destination of its private social investiments, Givaudan thinks of actions that can help change this reality.
For this reason, the Company works to raise employees awareness and engage them in volunteerism programs so they can contribute their knowledge and skills to society.

The main social actions carried out in 2008 were:
Handicraft Project – Recycling
Attitudes, Multiplying Ideas
The project benefits 8 mothers of students
from State School Marina Saddi Haidar
enabling them to make handicraft objects
destined to the local consumer market as a
source of income for their families. The work
uses scrap fabric, pet bottles, glass and
other materials.
Givaudan invests in handicraft teachers and tools, and provides recycled materials donated by its employees, suppliers and partners. Givaudan supports the mothers involved in the Project and helps them introduce their products into stores, Givaudan’s employees association, its suppliers’ employees associations, handicraft fairs, social responsibility related fairs and also buys the products to give out as yearend freebies.
Junior Achievement
Personal finance courses and introduction
to the business world for 49 children from
5th to 7th grade at State School Deputado
Augusto do Amaral. Volunteer employees in
partnership with the São Paulo State Junior
Achievement Association teach
the courses.
English course - Volunteerism
The English courses are taught in Givaudan’s
facilities by 4 volunteer employees.
Employees, temporary workers and third parties,
divided into 3 groups, attend the classes:
- 1 group of 12 employees in basic level
- 1 group of 6 employees in basic level 2
- 1 group of 6 employees in intermediate level.
In average the modules have the duration of 1 year.
Chocolate Workshop
In 2008, 4.500 chocolate candies were made by 50 volunteer employees and benefited:
- 650 children from Marina Saddi Haidar School
- 55 children from the Osasco Children and
Adolescent Reference Center
Adopt a Child this Winter campaign
Through employees’ donations, this campaign collected:
- 50 blankets for the Children and Adolescent Reference Center
- 50 blankets for Toca de Assis – Osasco
- 160 blankets for the Areião community
- 70 blankets for the institution Irmãs Hospitaleiras do Sagrado
Coração de Jesus
Adopt a Child this Christmas campaign
This campaign benefited 65 children from the Osasco
Children and Adolescent Reference Center through
employees donations.
Year-End Fund Raising
The employees, organized in teams, collected toys and
food donations. The best teams received prizes at the
year-end party. This project benefited 17 institutions with
8.000 toys and 100 food baskets.
The Essence of the Song choir presentation
The choir is made up of 60 students from Marina Saddi
Haidar State School. It performs on local holidays
celebrations in shopping centers in São Paulo and Osasco
as well as in Givaudan’s facilities.
Regarding this item, Givaudan has been improving its actions directed to the community with projects focused on sustainability, such as the Handicraft Project.
