Suppliers
Procurement
Givaudan engages its suppliers since the early stages of the product development process thus ensuring competitiveness and reliability in the production chain. The Company has 312 raw material suppliers.
Givaudan maintains a partnership with an external consulting firm for prospecting Brazilian aromatic plants to be used as raw material in the creation of differentiated and sustainable products.
In addition to its global initiatives in sustainability, Givaudan innovates in product development. In partnership with an FSC - Forest Stewardship Council - certified wood harvesting company in the Amazon, Givaudan is prospecting raw materials for extracting aromatic oil. The commercial implementation of this project may benefit 3 communities in the region by increasing their income and generating local development.
Givaudan is Social Policies certified and so it audits, evaluates and encourages its suppliers to meet Social Policies standards and adopt social responsibility practices.
Suppliers in non-compliance with the Social Policies requirements are invited to participate in discussions with the Procurement and HR staff and encouraged to think about meeting some of the Social Policies criteria as a condition to keep on being a Givaudan supplier.
The minimum requirements for suppliers are:
- That the supplier presents a Social Responsibility policy;
- That an employee be elected as company representative;
- That a communication channel between employees and the top management be created.

Givaudan has been investing in the engagement of its suppliers in the Social Policies international standards certification through periodical meetings to explain the certification requirements. As a result, the Company received a score that was higher than that of the benchmark group.
