Our history begins in 1895 when the brothers Henri and Xavier Givaudan established a perfumery house in Zurich, Switzerland. Other important character in our history is the Roure family who in 1820 established in Grasse, France, as an aromatic plants and essential oils supplier. Both companies would become important and independent fragrances manufacturers, and later on they merged. Givaudan arrived in Brazil in 1949, and installed an office in downtown São Paulo and a plant in Jaguaré. In 1963, Roche acquired Givaudan, and in the following year Roure. From that date on, both companies have belonged to the same industrial group. In 1979 the company started its current industrial complex, alongside Marginal do Rio Pinheiros. In 1990 Givaudan acquired Fritzche Dodge Olcolt and one year later merged with Roure. The company’s name changed to Givaudan Roure. In 1997 Givaudan acquired Tastemaker. In 2000, the company went public, decoupled from Roche, and started trading its shares at the Swiss stock market. In the first decade of XXI century, the company concluded other important acquisitions: FIS (Food Ingredients Specialities), IBF (International Bioflavors) and Quest, consolidating as a leading player within the fragrance and flavour market.
