Safety and health protection in all workplaces, as well as neighborhood and environmental protection are the main concerns of the Company management.
Safety, health and environmental issues should be addressed with the same rigor and sense of responsibility and applying the same methodology used when it handles problems related to quality, productivity and profitability.
Safety, health and environmental protection are inseparable parts of every problem. Managers of several departments are responsible for assuring that these issues are duly addressed. They are responsible for knowing what is expected from employees in terms of knowledge and skills and what technical and organizational measures are required.
Each manager and specialist should be familiar with the applicable laws and regulations to his (her) area of responsibility as well as with the internal guidelines and the recognized technological codes and make proper use of them.
Workers of all levels have a joint accountability, in conformity with their level of knowledge and skills, to assure that all safety, health and environmental protection regulations have been observed.
Social Responsability Policy
Givaudan, a company constantly concerned in acting with social accountability, has as its main goal:
- Development and support actions in benefit of the society, community, and employees, contributing to reach a sustainable social, economic and environmental growth.
- Allow a safe and healthy occupational environment, favorable to the personal and professional growth of its employees.
- Comply with the requirements of the international norm Social Policies, with the International Labor Conventions, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the national legislation and the requirements subscribed of Givaudan.
- Improve the relationship with every business partner such as service renders, suppliers and clients stimulating them to establish a commitment of social accountability with their employees and towards society.
- Search for the continuous improvement of its system of management of social accountability.
Remediation to Child Labor Policy
In case of existence of child labor* at Givaudan do Brasil, the following procedure shall be adopted:- Immediately remove the child from the duty
- Define the corrective actions, in order to guarantee that the revenue that the family received from the child is preserved, whether by hiring one of the relatives, or by providing the corresponding amount
- Guarantee that this child is enrolled with the school
- The efficiency of the corrective actions shall be based on the criteria of the effective repair to the child, further extending beyond the actions declared herein
* Child means any individual below 16 years of age.
Promotion of Education for Young Worker Policy
We understand that work, in many times, is the only manner in which young workers may complement their studies, and, therefore, Givaudan do Brasil undertakes to, in case of existence of young workers in its staff, as of recommendation OIT 146:
- Direct said them only to light works
- Not expose them to work during school hours, nor to night works
- Ensure that they are attending school, and that the total of hours on duty, on transportation, and at school do not surpass ten hours per day
- Guarantee that they are not exposed to hazardous, unsafe, or dangerous situations, whether inside or outside the facilities of Givaudan
- Guarantee that they apprentices are monitored by the school in charge, or any other agency, so as the work does not interfere in school
